A Glamorous Afternoon Tea at The London Hotel: Fashion-Forward Flavors and Elegant Delights

by Cheri Fox

Last month on March 25 , I had the pleasure of experiencing a one-of-a-kind afternoon tea at The London Hotel in West Hollywood. This wasn’t just any tea service, it was an immersive, high-fashion affair inspired by the upcoming film The Devil Wears Prada 2. Dubbed “The Devil Sips Tea,” this creative twist on the traditional tea service combines editorial-inspired presentation with a touch of Hollywood glamour.

From the moment I arrived, I was struck by the sophisticated ambiance, where each dish was artfully plated like a page from a fashion magazine. The experience felt like stepping into a stylish editorial shoot, with every detail carefully curated to evoke elegance and fun.

The culinary highlights included some truly delightful treats. The scones stole the show—they were perfectly flaky, warm, and served alongside luscious clotted cream and vibrant lemon fruit preserves. The accompanying tea cookies were equally exquisite crisp, delicate, and artistically designed to resemble Anna Wintour iconic Vogue Editor the taste just enough sweetness to complement the savory bites.

The tea selection was thoughtfully chosen, with options like the refreshing “Beauty Closet” botanicals, which paired beautifully with the sweet and savory offerings. For those looking to indulge further, bubbly champagne and the bold “Cerulean” Martini were available, adding a splash of luxury to the afternoon.

On the savory side, the “Editor-in-Chief” Egg Slider featured a silky truffled egg served on crustless brioche, while the “Clacker Cucumber” slices, cut with precision to resemble the width of a stiletto heel, brought a playful yet refined element to the plate.

No afternoon tea would be complete without a sweet finish, and here, the “Groundbreaking” Floral Tart—zesty lemon curd topped with a delicate flower—and the glossy “Red Sole” Petit Four, a nod to high fashion footwear, offered a perfect coda to the experience.
