The Malibu Family Smile Fest recently brought the community together for a day brimming with music, family fun, education, and philanthropy. This unique event provided attendees with the opportunity to support children born with clefts, who often face significant social challenges. This year’s fest not only celebrated the hundreds of thousands of lives transformed by Operation Smile but also aimed to further the organization’s mission to help 1 million children over the next decade.
Held at the picturesque Malibu estate of TV personality and philanthropist Brooke Burke, and presented by Barefoot Dreams and Alpha Pals, the Operation Smile Malibu Family Fest was a spectacular hit. The event was graced by a star-studded roster of celebrities and Hollywood elite, including Brooke Burke & Scott Rigsby, Billy Bush, Roma Downey & Mark Burnett, Jennifer & Bert Salke, Sherrie Rose & Stan Cook, and Ali Wise. Guests of all ages were treated to a day filled with joyous music, engaging activities, and heartfelt philanthropy.
One of the highlights was a show-stopping performance by celebrity singer-songwriter Macy Gray, who captivated the audience with her hits “I Try” and “You Got a Friend in Me.” The electric atmosphere was further enhanced when Billy Bush led a spirited auction, raising substantial donations to support Operation Smile’s mission of transforming children’s lives through the gift of a smile.
The event also featured a special moment when actor Chris Hardwick presented Lydia Hearst with the Universal Smile Award in recognition of her unwavering dedication to the organization. Lydia’s heartfelt speech touched many as she recounted her journey from starting in the mailroom at 15 to participating in missions, and now, as a mother, looking forward to contributing even more.
The festive atmosphere was enhanced by numerous celebrity appearances. Amber Rose and her kids enjoyed the Alpha Pals Kids Zone, playing with Tonie Boxes. Evan Ross and “Never Have I Ever” star Darren Barnett indulged in peanut chews and toffee clusters at the See’s Candy Bar. Tia Carrere caught up with friends at the Tabalipa Wine Co. Rose Bar, while Pussycat Doll star Carmit Bachar and her daughter got glam at the Petite’n Pretty station, leaving with goodie bags full of makeup. Carmit even surprised everyone with a performance of “Hot Like Me,” cheered on by Brooke Burke and her daughters, Sierra Sky and Rain Charvet. Sierra Sky also took the stage with her hits, joined by Asa Orbison and Joshua and Jaidyn Triplett. DJ Lezlee kept the vibes high all afternoon.
A “Taste of Malibu” culinary experience added to the delight, featuring food and drinks from Casamigos Cocktails, Joyburst Hydration Drink, Caliwater, Prince Street Pizza, Irv’s Burgers, Howdy’s, and Tabalipa Wine Bar.
The Malibu Family Smile Fest wasn’t just an event; it was a celebration of community, generosity, and the spirit of giving back, all while enjoying the beautiful Malibu setting and fantastic company. The day was a resounding success, reinforcing the importance of philanthropy and the incredible impact of Operation Smile’s work.
